Abstract
Topic: Sustainable Real Estate: Strategies Towards Net Zero Carbon
Financial and non-financial value generated through green strategies has made sustainability a critical business pillar. Sustainability has gone mainstream, with the built environment contributing around 40 percent of global carbon emissions Investors, occupiers, and landlords need to work together as an ecosystem to accelerate the race to net zero. In this session we will look to:

Kelvin Mak is a Chartered Engineer, Registered Professional Engineer and Registered Energy Assessor, and is currently the Operations Manager of JEC’s Digital Solution (Jardine Engineering Digital Insights, JEDI) driving energy saving with adopting various kinds of data-driven technologies. He possesses his PhD, with focusing on chiller optimization, at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2014. He has got different experience in dealing with building energy audit and energy management as well as retro-commissioning (RCx) projects.
Abstract
Topic: Application of Artificial Intelligence Control System on Chiller Plant Operations
The energy consumption of a chiller plant within building typically accounts for 50-60% of the total. Effective and efficient tools together with applying advanced technologies for energy saving are vital no matter cutting the running cost of the building, but also helping in combating climate change. There is an urge need of AI system using data-driven machine learning models and numerical optimization algorithm for energy reduction. A comparison of actual energy performance of the system against rule-based optimization in conventional control is also essential in order to prove how AI system could have aggressive saving from the buildings.
