Introduction of Digital Log-books for Lifts and Escalators
- The Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) applies blockchain, cloud computing, big data analytics and other mobile technologies to develop the “Digital Log-books for Lifts and Escalators” (Digital Log-books) to capture details of lift/escalator works via a common electronic platform for better monitoring and upkeep of lifts/escalators. EMSD will give an overview on the design and features of the Digital Log-books , and how the public, the responsible persons, the trade, and EMSD could be benefits from the system.

Long Term Strategies for Enhancing Safety and Management of Aged Lifts
- Lifts are one of the safest forms of transport as they are designed base on strict and comprehensive standards. However, standards change to reflect developing technology and social trends. In Hong Kong, there are about 70 000 lifts and more than half of the existing lifts are aged over 20 years old. This is most significant when compared with technological advancement over such a time span and raised personal expectations of safety levels. Therefore, long term strategies and possible actions would like to be introduced to you for enhancing safety and management of aged lifts.
