All asset and facility information relates to a location in a map or floor plan. Estate management firms are increasingly turning to geographic information systems (GIS) to manage and use facility information to make evidence-based decisions. A geographic information platform is much more powerful than other forms of representation as GIS can help us visualize valuable spatial relationships in an intuitive way. In this presentation, we will show how GIS can be integrated with BIM throughout the AEC lifecycle, especially for a building to achieve more efficient asset and facility management in the context of a smart city.
