IFMA Asia Pacific Awards of Excellence 2019 Awards Presentation Ceremony was successfully held in JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong on 24 September 2019. Award of Excellence honorees were recognized in 10 award categories. Ir Tommy Lam

Ir Tommy LAM is the Senior Engineer of the Inno-Office of the Electrical & Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) of the HKSAR Government.


(EMSD, as a government department, plays a dual role in Hong Kong. It acts as a law enforcement department with regard to electrical and mechanical safety. It also provides E&M engineering solutions and services to other government departments and public sector organizations in Hong Kong.) The Inno-Office is a new unit established in EMSD since early 2018, and is responsible for driving the adoption of innovative technology in government departments and the Electrical & Mechanical trades. Ir Tommy LAM has been working in the electronics and biomedical engineering field for more than 8 years. Before taking up the post in Inno-office, he has working experience in hospital engineering and in media relations.



Mr Ryan Wai-ming LEE

Ryan is a Sustainability manager passionate to strive for a more Sustainable community through collaborative efforts of different stakeholders. He has more than 17 years of experience on Sustainability management, including from policy setting, strategy development to final implementation at both building and community levels at different life-cycle stages, i.e. planning, design & operation. He has involved in more than 50 Green Community and building projects in Southeast Asia and a number of his projects received international Green awards and certifications.

Ryan is now working with Hongkong Land (HKL) as a Sustainability manager to drive Sustainable development in both HKL Group and Property Management levels. He has also worked closely with Government, Green Business Groups and/ or NGOs to launch new environmental initiatives like the pilot of glass bottle recycling and food waste decomposing. Before joining HKL, he was a Team Leader of Building Sustainability in an international design firm, Arup for Sustainable community development, Green building design and certification.

He has also been proactively supporting Green Business Groups, including HKGBC’s Green Labelling Committee (GLC), Communications & Membership Committee, BEAM Society’s Expert Panel members, BEC’s Advisory Groups (AGs) since 2012 and currently is a member of Circular Economy AG.



Ir Chris Chong

Ir. Chris Chong is the Managing Director of Hong Kong District Cooling Company Limited (HKDC) , a subsidiary of Veolia - one of the largest environmental companies in the world. Chris has been working in various positions in energy infrastructure sector for more than 25 years. In the past 10 years, he developed and operated four district cooling systems in Hong Kong, China and Macau - with a total capacity of around 150,000 Refrigeration Ton (enough to supply 50 numbers of 30 storey grade A office buildings). From 2011, he led a team to design, build and operate the first District Cooling System in the Kai Tak Development in Hong Kong, which was in operation since January 2013. In recognition of excellent safety performance, HKDC was the Winner of Asia Pacific Best Occupational Health and Safety Award by International Facility Management Association Hong Kong Chapter and Hong Kong Sustainability Award by Hong Kong Management Association in 2019.

 

Ir. Chong holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering and a MBA degree from the University of Hong Kong. He is a Certified Energy Manager, Chartered Engineer and Fellow Member of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, Institution of Mechanical Engineers and Energy Institute UK. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA Charter holder) and a member of the Hong Kong Society of Financial Analysts. In 2019 -2020, he is now Vice Chairman of IMechE (Hong Kong Branch) and Vice Chairman of Energy Institute (Hong Kong Branch). He was awardee of Distinguished Sustainability Leader Award 2019 by the Hong Kong Management Association.

Urban Property Management Limited is the Manager since Year 2000. Rhythm Garden has won Grand Award in Excellence in Facilities Management Awards 2014, Grand Award in the Quality Property and Facility Management Awards 2018 and Winner in Asia Pacific Award of Excellence in Facility Management Operations 2019.

Elaine joined M Moser Associates in 2011 and played a key role in building the company’s sustainability and wellness design capabilities from the ground up.

In addition to creating all guideline materials to support our global teams, her efforts led to the designation of M Moser as China’s first LEED® Proven Provider™ to provide clients with a streamlined LEED project review process and a quicker path to certification. In her first 5 years at M Moser, Elaine managed the sustainability and wellness programs of over 60 projects in architecture and workplace design both in China and globally, including many pioneering projects such as the first Living Building Challenge and WELL v1 certified projects in Asia.

Her role has since shifted to s trategy with a focus on consultancy for corporate clients. Based out of the Shanghai office, Elaine helps strategize project direction and design foundations from the beginning of the project process to create a workplace that best supports their business and most importantly, people's productivity and wellbeing. She strives to promote innovative spaces with focus on business outcomes and human experience, developing transformative services including design driven business consultancy and the wellness consultancy.



Louis Varona
Senior Consultant from Energenz representing HKBN


Louis an technical specialist who has more than 10-year experience in the industry of energy efficiency and management in Asia and the US. As qualified electrical engineer and a MBA, he wields a special combination technical and commercial knowledge, allowing him to turn engineering opportunities into returns on investment. He has been the programme manager for Hong Kong Broadband Energy Performance Contracts (EPC) for more than 4 years and EPC from other clients in Hong Kong and Southeast Asia.
